In May 2014, Shona and Johnathan were planning their wedding day in Nashville. They welcomed a baby girl into the world, and one month later, they were set to be married.
Shona wanted to include her newborn baby in the wedding, and the way in which she chose to do so took the internet by storm. You see, Shona and Johnathan’s daughter wasn’t just a guest at her parents’ wedding — she was physically attached to Mom’s dress as she walked down the aisle. Yep.
As Shona made the journey down to the altar, there was her tiny baby, fastened to the long train of her gown.
Someone snapped a photo of the surreal sight, and it quickly went viral on Facebook for obvious reasons.
Now, the baby did not get hurt in any way, but many online viewers were upset with Shona’s unconventional “accessory” dragged down the aisle.
However, Shona went on record to say she never regretted her decision one bit. She fought critics, saying her baby was awake, never in danger, and safely secured to the dress.
The Huffington Post reported that Kaye Jordon, wedding coordinator for the ceremony, argued the child’s treatment “indicates the dedication of her mother (and father) toward caring for her child and family.”
“A GOOD mother takes her child wherever she goes,” she wrote, “even down the aisle.”
